How to blur part of a photo
- Choose a photo. JPEG, PNG, WebP or an iPhone HEIC photo.
- Drag a box over each face or area to blur. Add as many boxes as you need.
- Adjust the strength until the details are gone.
- Download the blurred copy. Your original isn't changed.
When to blur before sharing
- Children's faces, especially other people's kids in group photos.
- Strangers in the background of a public post.
- License plates and house numbers that show where you live.
- Screens and documents in the background of a photo.
For text such as ID numbers, a solid block is safer than blur: use redact an image. For a blocky look, try pixelate.
Your photo stays on your device
Many online blur tools upload your photo to their servers. This one works inside your browser and saves the result straight back to your device. You can even turn off Wi-Fi after the page loads and it still works. The downloaded copy also leaves out the location and other hidden details your phone saved in the photo; to see what the original reveals, use the photo location finder.
Frequently asked questions
How do I blur a face in a photo?
Choose your photo above, keep Blur selected, and drag a box over each face. Turn up the strength until the face is unrecognizable, then tap Download photo.
Can I blur the whole image?
Yes. Tap Whole photo to blur everything, and use the strength slider to choose how soft it looks.
Is it safe to blur photos online here?
Yes. Your photo is edited inside your browser and never uploaded; this site has no server that could receive it. It's free, with no sign-up or watermark.
Is blurring enough to hide text?
Not always. Light blur on text can sometimes be reversed. For ID numbers, addresses or passwords, switch to Black box, which covers the text completely.
How do I blur a photo on iPhone?
The Photos app has no blur tool, though on iPhones with Apple Intelligence, brushing over a face with Clean Up covers it with a mosaic. On any iPhone you can use this page in Safari: choose the photo, drag over the area and download. The copy goes to Downloads in the Files app; open it and tap Share, then Save Image, to add it to Photos.
